Linen is a fabric with a rich history

Of course, it is not possible to give an exact date when people began to use flax.

However, it is sure that of the four major natural materials – wool, cotton, and silk – flax is the oldest.

It is known that as early as 3400 BC, flax was known in Ancient Egypt.

Many samples of linen fabric have been found in the tombs of that time.

Amazingly, working only by hand, the weavers created unique fabrics with a density of more than 500 threads per inch, which can be run through a from the little fingers ring. Such quality is could not be replicated even on modern looms.

Archaeologists have also found denser linen fabrics that resemble those of today.

One could even determine a person’s rank by the thickness of the linen: aristocrats of those times were wrapped in several thousand (!) yards of the finest linen cloth and slaves in a few yards of rough canvas.

Nevertheless, all the dead were wrapped in a linen cloth, which was considered the purest and had religious significance.

Gradually, with the development of sea voyages and international trade relations, linen became known in the Mediterranean.

Then it became known across the continent of Europe, and the Romans also imported flax into England.

Flax linen is mentioned in the Bible.

Ecologically pure linen fabric did not lose its popularity and nowadays.

The fabric of 100% natural flax is used to sew clothes, bedding, and home interiors.
